Bighorn Sheep Field Trip Scheduled Saturday, Nov. 19
This will be our 4th annual Field Trip to photograph Bighorn Sheep in the rut. As in past years we will meet at Starbucks along I-70 at Downieville and break into groups of 10 or so to drive to the best viewing locations. I will be scouting to map the prime locations Friday morning so we'll have a fair idea where to find the animals on Saturday.
Here's the tentative Plan for Saturday:
• Meet for coffee at approx. 6:30 AM at Starbucks I-70 at Downieville; leave Starbucks in 2-3 groups by approx. 7:00 AM.
Trip one: Weekend of Aug. 5th -- Lake City-American Basin (wildflowers), Animas Forks (ghost town). Very little hiking, all photo ops near the vehicle. Stay in Lake City, plenty of B&B's, motels, and campgrounds.
Trip two: Creed (old mining town w/mines) and the Wheeler Geological (like a small Bryce Canyon) and the turning of the aspens. Probably the first weekend in October. Stay in Creed or a nearby campground.
If you are interested in either trip, please email Bill Vogel
at bvogel13@earthlink.net.
We have another unique photography event scheduled for April 16, 2011. We have an opportunity for a private, tripod session at the Butterfly Pavilion. We will be able to use tripods from 7:45 -9:00. At 9:00, the public will be invited in and we will be required to adhere to normal visiting restrictions of no tripods, we will be able to use monopods or hand held only. The cost for this event is $15.00 and must be prepaid. I have included the email from Marcos which includes the information for prepayment.
